Scotland Heat Map user guidance

We’ve produced some documents to assist users of Scotland Heat Map data.

The Scotland Heat Map User Guide aims to help users understand the heat map. It describes the data sources and methodologies used to create the map, along with differences between the current and previous versions of the data. It includes information on how to work with the map and should help users understand the data and its limitations.

We will make the user guide available on this page in due course, in the meantime, please email us at heatmap@gov.scot to request a copy.

The Scotland Heat Map Data Dictionary gives information on the fields included in the various feature classes/shapefiles we created in producing the heat map. There are two versions:

  • one for the ESRI ArcGIS version of the data
  • one for the non-ESRI version of the data

These are available to download in the supporting documents section.

The quick user guide for the Scotland Heat Map Interactive website explains how the site works and how to use its various functions, such as the reporting tool.
