Prosecutions from 2010 to 2011

  • On 01 November 2011 at Banff Sheriff Court, a 55-year old man pleaded guilty to the offence of high grading cod and was fined £2,000.
  • On 01 November 2011 at Banff Sheriff Court, a 55-year old man pleaded guilty to the offence of misrecording the amount of saithe held on board his vessel and was fined £2,000.
  • On 12 August 2011 at Banff Sheriff Court, a 27-year old man pleaded guilty to failing to deposit a logsheet prior to landing his fish at Peterhead. The court imposed a fine of £450 for the offence.
  • On 14 June 2011 at Banff Sheriff Court, a 37-year old man pleaded guilty to two separate charges of misreporting the area of capture of monkfish and ling. Fines of £2,000 and £3,000 were imposed.
  • On 07 June 2011 at Dingwall Sheriff Court, a 31-year old man pleaded guilty to fishing within a closed area. Sentence was deferred for further reports.
  • On 31 May 2011 at Banff Sheriff Court, a 47-year old man was fined £4,500 for misrecording the quantity of saithe retained on board his vessel.
  • On 09 May 2011 at Rothesay Sheriff Court, a 38-year old man pleaded guilty to failing to submit sales notes for fish purchases. He was fined £1,000.
  • On 01 April 2011 at Stornoway Sheriff Court, a 34-year old Master of a Norwegian fishing vessel was fined a total of £36,500 for fishing within the North West of Rockall closed area.
  • On 04 March 2011 at Dingwall Sheriff Court, a 40-year old man pleaded guilty to fishing within the Rockall Haddock Box and was fined £12,000.
  • On 12 January 2011 at Lerwick Sheriff Court, a 44-year old man pleaded guilty to retaining on board and landing tusk after a closure. He was fined £2,000 for the offence.
  • On 18 October 2010 at Lerwick Sheriff Court, a 60-year old Master of a Norwegian fishing vessel was fined £2,000 for failing to comply with reporting requirements for pelagic species.
  • On 15 October 2010 at Lerwick Sheriff Court, a 44-year old Master of a Norwegian fishing vessel was fined £20,000 for failing to comply with reporting requirements for pelagic species.
  • On 07 September 2010 at Banff Sheriff Court, a 48-year old man was fined £4,000 for misreporting the area of capture of Anglerfish.

He was fined £1,500 for the first offence and £6,000 for the second offence.
