PLUGGED-IN PLACES INITIATIVE

The UK Government's Department for Transport (DfT) today announced an Initiative which invited cities and businesses to form consortia to bid for funding which can contribute to the installation of charging points for Electric Vehicles. This initiative, 'Plugged-In Places' will support the development of between three and six electric car cities and regions across the UK to be at the forefront in promoting and facilitating the use of electric vehicles. The outcome from this initiative will inform future development of a national charging infrastructure. Details of the scheme and other support being provided by the newly formed Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) can be found at http://www.dft.gov.uk/olev

This initiative offers a welcome opportunity for Scottish consortia to bid for match-funding for electric vehicle infrastructure, and supports the Scottish Government's commitment to the promotion and use of low carbon vehicles.
