1 Annual average.
2 The claimant count consists of those people who are claiming unemployment-related
benefits at Employment Service local offices and who have declared that they
are unemployed, capable of, available for and actively seeking work during the
week in which their claim is made.
3 These unemployment rates are calculated
by expressing the numbers of claimant unemployed as percentages of the estimated
total workforce (the sum of employment, the unemployed, the self-employed, HM
Armed Forces and participants on work-related training programmes) at mid year.
