SCOTTISH TRANSPORT STATISTICS No 23: 2004 Edition

ERRORS IN THE PREVIOUS EDITION

This list covers errors which occurred in the preparation of the tables or the commentary in "Scottish Transport Statistics". It does not include cases where the statistics now published differ from those in the previous edition, because they have been revised by whoever supplied the figures. Such revisions could occur following more information becoming available, or an improvement in estimation methodology, or the correction of errors in the supplier's own systems. In such cases, the revisions may be mentioned in the text or a footnote to the relevant table, if they are large enough to warrant this.

We apologise for the following errors, which we have found in the previous edition:

• Summary Transport Statistics section: Paragraph 2.3 on Passenger journeys on local bus services refers to 1.7 million passenger journeys on local bus services in 1960. This should have read 1,700 million passenger journeys on local bus services.
• Table 1.8: footnote 2 should have said "includes heavy goods vehicles that are exempt from tax" rather than "excludes heavy goods vehicles…".
• In Chapter 5, references to the "Scottish Executive Payment Management System" should have read "Scottish Executive Pavement Management System".
• Table 10.4: the Scotland all major ports figures for "other" for 1995 and 1996 should have read 15,273 and 15,461 thousand tonnes respectively. In previous editions they wrongly included figures for Cairnryan, which was not considered a major port until 1997.

Where appropriate, the tables in this edition include corrected figures.

Any problems or inconveniences resulting from these errors are regretted.
