This list covers errors which occurred in the preparation of the tables in "Scottish Transport Statistics". It does not include cases where the statistics now published differ from those in the previous edition, because they have been revised by whoever supplied the figures. Such revisions could occur following more information becoming available, or an improvement in estimation methodology, or the correction of errors in the supplier's own systems. In such cases, the revisions may be mentioned in the text or a footnote to the relevant table, if they are large enough to warrant this.
We apologise for the following errors which we have found in the previous edition:
1. Table 4.1 - the figure for total recorded crossings in 1999 for Forth Road Bridge should have read 10,934.
2. We incorrectly showed 'breaks in series' at the foot of Table 4.1 between: 1992 and 1993; 1993 and 1994; 1998 and 1999, when there should have been none between these years.
The tables in this edition include corrected figures. Any problems or inconveniences resulting from these errors are regretted.
In addition, as explained in the Summary Section on the Comparison between Scotland and Great Britain (or the UK), part of a series for GB which appeared last year has been replaced by figures whose definition is the same as those of the Scottish series.
There were also a number of minor "cosmetic" flaws (for example, some long footnotes did not appear in full) because Excel spreadsheets which printed correctly on Transport Statistics computer system did not do so on the printer's computer system. However, such problems did not affect the accuracy of the statistics in the publication.
