SCOTTISH TRANSPORT STATISTICS: No 21

ERRORS IN THE PREVIOUS EDITION

This list covers errors which occurred in the preparation of the tables or the commentary in "Scottish Transport Statistics". It does not include cases where the statistics now published differ from those in the previous edition, because they have been revised by whoever supplied the figures. Such revisions could occur following more information becoming available, or an improvement in estimation methodology, or the correction of errors in the supplier's own systems. In such cases, the revisions may be mentioned in the text or a footnote to the relevant table, if they are large enough to warrant this.

We apologise for the following errors, which we have found in the previous edition:

  • Summary: comparison of Scotland and Great Britain - the percentage travelling to work by car for GB for 1993 should have been "68" (not 70)
  • Summary: there were errors in some of the estimates of the tonnes carried by pipeline for Scotland and Great Britain - revised figures appear in this edition
  • Chapter 2 commentary, paragraph 2.7 - should have said:
"… the Retail Prices Index rose by 41% …" (not 44%).
  • Chapter 6 commentary, paragraph 2.13 - line 7 should have said:
"… the total amount of petrol delivered declined by 19% …" (not 18%).
  • Chapter 9 commentary, paragraph 2.3 - The second sentence should have said
    "… down by 132,000 to 120,000 …" (not "… to 252,000")
Historic Series: there were errors in some of the estimates of the tonnes carried by pipeline - revised figures appear in this edition

Where appropriate, the tables in this edition include corrected figures.
Any problems or inconveniences resulting from these errors are regretted.
