for 2000 were used to calculate the figures for 2001.
2. The figures for 1992 and 1993 are on different bases, due to a change in the
source of the statistics: see the Notes to chapter 1.
3. The figures for 1995 (and earlier years) are not directly comparable with those
for 1996 (and later years): see the Notes to chapter 6
4. The figures for 1998 and earlier years are on a different basis from those
for 1999 and 2000- see the notes on the previous page.
5. These figures are for financial years (April to March) which start in the relevant
financial year (eg "1995" figures are for 1995-96 financial year)
