Source: Employment Service, New Deal Evaluation Database.
Notes:
(1) Includes those leaving before having a first interview.
(2) Those who are recorded by ES as having been placed into unsubsidised employment, plus those who are recorded as having terminated their JSA claim in order to go into a job. This will undercount the total number going into a job: some who go into a job will not, for whatever reason, record this as the reason for termination of the JSA claim. These will be counted as 'not known'. Past research indicates that the destinations of those who do not give a reason for termination follow a similar pattern to those who do give a reason
As further data are added, the numbers going into jobs in recent months may be revised upwards.
(3) Includes for example gone abroad.
(4) Where there is no leaving code recorded on JUVOS, or where the leaving code is recorded as ‘not known’ or simply ‘ceased claiming’ or ‘failed to attend’. As more data are added, the numbers in this category may be revised downwards.
(5) At the end of the Advisory Process, clients may return to normal jobseeker activity including regular fortnightly reviews.
(6) In Scotland, Training for Work is the equivalent programme.
