6.1 For sites where the length of time for which vacancy or dereliction was known, a total of 37 per cent (2,474 hectares) of derelict land and 31 per cent (1,306) of vacant land had been unused since before 1981. Overall, only 29 per cent (3,175 hectares) of land was known to have become vacant or derelict since 1991.
