Scottish Household Survey Bulletin No.5

7. Households in Scotland - summary tables

This section consists of summary tables, which will be updated and repeated in subsequent bulletins, to provide the reader with a set of key figures from the survey that can easily be referred to.

The figures in the tables are the percentages of people or households with the relevant characteristic. For example, the first row of Table A shows that 47% of people living in Scottish [private] households are male. All the percentages are calculated after the sample numbers have been re-weighted as described in section 8. The last row shows that there was a total (unweighted) of 51,808 people in the surveyed households.

Similarly, the first row of Table B shows that 15% of Scottish [private] households consist of a single adult, with no children. The last row of Table B shows that a total (unweighted) of 21,966 households were interviewed in the survey.

In Table G, the first row shows that 78% of men (aged 17+), and 73% of adults aged 25-34, hold a full driving licence.
