Wood packaging

(Updated 16 July 2019)

Many countries around the world have begun to implement the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures no. 15 (ISPM 15) for wood packaging materials.

This means that all wood packaging used for shipping potatoes (or any other goods) to these countries will have to comply with the ISPM15 standards.

The packaging will need to have been treated with gas or heat and certified with an international mark.

There is a chance that consignments will be rejected by the importing country if non-certified wood packaging is used.

It is advised to regularly check which countries have signed up to the new rules.
