Donald Dewar announces new appointments to The Scottish Tourist Board

16/10/1998

Scottish Secretary The Rt Hon Donald Dewar MP, Secretary of State for Scotland, has appointed Mrs Sheena Kitchin and Mr David Michels to the board of the Scottish Tourist Board. The appointments are for four years, and will run until autumn 2002.

Mr Dewar said:

"I am delighted that Mrs Kitchin and Mr Michels have accepted my invitation to join the Scottish Tourist Board. Both have considerable experience in the tourism sector. Mr Michels has done sterling work as Chief Executive of Stakis plc and has already worked with the Board as chairman of the committee which devised the Autumn Gold campaign. Mrs Kitchin, as Managing Director of Destination Scotland Limited, has made a considerable contribution to Scotland's corporate tourism sector. I am sure their combined drive and enthusiasm will bring added strength as well as a fresh eye to the challenges facing the tourism industry."

Mr Dewar has also confirmed that Mr Peter Lederer, who was reappointed to STB's board in May this year, will serve a period of three years. His appointment will therefore run until autumn 2001.
