Citizens of a Multilingual World: Key Issues
Acknowledgement
The members of the Action Group wish to acknowledge the support given by a
number of colleagues in the collection of information and evidence, the preparation
of working papers and in the organisation and conduct of meetings: in particular
Margaret McGhie (Learning and Teaching Scotland), Alison Hurrell and Colin Laird
in their role as National Development Officers (5-14), Joanna McPake and Lottie
Gregory (Scottish CILT), Dan Tierney and John De Cecco in their role as National
Development Officers (MLPS),Veronica Smith (Scottish Qualifications Authority)
and HMI Isobel McGregor. We also acknowledge the contribution of Colin Laird
and staff of Learning and Teaching Scotland for their work in developing and
maintaining the Action Group's website.
More generally, we have been strongly motivated by the widespread interest
in our work shown by students, parents and teachers, teachers associations and
by staff in senior school management, local authorities, post-school education,
business and the media. We are grateful to those who hosted our Action Group
meetings which took place in schools and other locations across Scotland and
we thank all who took part in these meetings, who submitted their views to us
in writing or who contributed to the website discussions.
In acknowledging this invaluable support, we ourselves of course accept full
responsibility for the content of the report.
