1. The main aim is to set up Personal Development Plans, which focus on the Prisoner's particular set of circumstances, his coping and social skills coupled with the management of his custodial sentence.
2. Time spent in the Unit should be to provide the opportunity to learn, talk and practice negotiation and problem solving skills.
3. There must be a readiness on both sides to confront negative or irresponsible behaviour.
4. It is important to reinforce the use of the group structures.
