Chart 6: Homicide rates (victims per million population) by Council Area(1), 1989-98
1. Homicide victims and base populations for the period prior
to local government reorganisation on 1 April 1996 have been mappped to current
local authority areas on an estimated basis.
2. Excludes the 17 victims of the shootings at Dunblane, which gave Stirling
a rate of 40 victims per million population.
