The interpretation of day case tables can be difficult; low performance does not always imply an inappropriate pattern of service because some hospitals are able to offer these procedures on an outpatient basis. In the case of children’s hospitals it is important to remember that children are treated differently from adults and direct comparisons with other types of hospital cannot necessarily be drawn.

The operations above are defined thus:

Repair of Inguinal Hernia (OPCS4 T20-T21 as principal operation).
Operation/examination of the Bladder using an Endoscope (OPCS4 M42-M45 as principal operation).
Female Sterilisation using a Laparoscope (OPCS4 Q35-Q36 as principal operation).
Cataracts (OPCS4 C71-C75 as principal operation and ICD10 H25,H26,H280,H281 or H282 in any diagnostic position).
Arthroscopy of the Knee (OPCS4 W82,W85,W87 as principal operation or W83,W84 as principal operation with following Z846 site code).

An "x" in a cell indicates that there was no service for that operation.
