9.2 Table 16 shows that there are 542 hectares (147 sites) of new derelict land since the last survey. Of these, 171 hectares (7 sites) were in Renfrewshire and 116 hectares (31 sites) were in Fife. For vacant land, there were 370 hectares of new vacant land (330 sites), of which 92 hectares (88 sites) were in Glasgow City and 66 hectares (77 sites) were in Dundee City. The figures for Dundee are since the 1996 survey, as they did not participate in the 1997 survey.

9.3 Of the 911 hectares (477 sites) of new vacant and derelict land, 683 hectares (456 sites), which is 75 per cent of the total, are in urban areas, whilst 223 hectares (16 sites) are in rural areas.
