Comparison of vacant and derelict land between 1996, 1997 and 1998

2.9 Table 2 shows a comparison of the areas of vacant and derelict land recorded in the survey years, 1996, 1997 and 1998. It should be noted that some councils did not participate in 1998 and/or earlier years. The 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 or 1997 figures have been re-used in these cases. While the figures show a drop in the amount of recorded vacant and derelict land between 1997 and 1998, this is due to a number of sites being removed for definitional reasons (see Annex Table B).
