Participation in Education by 16-21 Year Olds in Scotland: 1987-88 to 1997-98

16 year olds

4.2 The percentage of 16 year olds in full-time education increased from 59 per cent in 1987-88 to 80 per cent in 1997-98, with most of this increase accounted for in Further Education. The total proportion in part-time education was 13 per cent in 1997-98, this is below the 1987-88 figure of 15 per cent.
