1. The intention of this Part is to ensure that -
a. there are facilities for the storage and removal of solid waste; and
b. any dungsteads or farm effluent tanks do not endanger health and safety.
2. It should be noted that special arrangements may have to be made to arrange storage to take account of special waste from buildings other than dwellings. The Health and Safety Executive should be consulted about factory waste. Health Boards should consult the DOE Waste Management Paper No 25, "Clinical Wastes".
3. There are other requirements that will have to be taken into account in certain cases. Parts D and E (Structural Fire Precautions and Means of Escape from Fire) for example have requirements for the construction of, and access to, solid waste storage accommodation.

(1) A building of purpose group 1 shall beprovided with adequate accommodation for solid waste storage. |

(2) Such accommodation shall be so constructed as to - |

(3) This regulation shall not be subject to specification in a notice served under section 11 of the Act. |

A dungstead or farm effluent tank shall be so constructed, positioned and protected as to minimise risks to health and safety and prevent contamination of any water supply or watercourse. |
