| CIRCULAR SWSG7/95 5455
30 March 1995
Dear Colleague
THE REGISTERED ESTABLISHMENTS (FEES) (SCOTLAND) ORDER 1995
Summary
1. This Circular advises local authorities of the new fees
relating to the registration of establishments which come into force on 1 April 1995 under
the Registered Establishments (Fees) (Scotland) Order 1995.
Background
2. Following consultation, the 1995 Order increases by 10%
the maximum fees prescribed by the Secretary of State for the registration of
establishments set out in the Registered Establishments (Fees) (Scotland) Order 1993,
which is revoked. The timing of the increase is consistent with the commitment given by
Ministers in 1993 that the fees should be reviewed every 2 years. The Order also sets out
the times at which the fees are payable.
3. Authorities are reminded that their powers to charge for
registration applies to adult residential care establishments only. The present
legislation does not allow a charge to be made for the registration of day care
facilities.
Action
4. Authorities should apply the new fee maxima from 1 April
1995. Copies of the Order may be purchased from HMSO, 71 Lothian Road, Edinburgh.
Contact Point
5. Please direct any enquiries about this Circular to Mr
