9 New sites

9.1 The following table shows distinct new sites which became vacant or derelict since the last survey.

9.2 Table 16, shows that 227 hectares (106 sites)of new derelict land were recorded since the last survey. Of these, 62 hectares (10 sites) were in Midlothian and 45 hectares (18 sites) were in North Lanarkshire. For vacant land, there were 381 hectares of new vacant land (300 sites), of which 185 hectares (86 sites) were in North Lanarkshire and 52 hectares (54 sites) were in Glasgow.

9.3 Of the 610 hectares (406 sites) of new vacant and derelict land, 566 hectares (381 sites) which is 93 per cent of the total, are in urban areas, whilst 41 hectares (23 sites) are in rural areas.
