1 In 1995-96, there was a 27,500 ha area of land ‘not previously recorded’, a net 14,300 ha area lost to ‘error’, a 300 ha gain from ‘minor holdings’, plus an area lost to ‘houses and gardens’. The overall result was a net gain of over 13,000 hectares as shown in the ‘Other’ column. The majority of these net gains were caused by occupiers changing their holding areas to match more detailed maps they had acquired for completing their Integrated Agriculture Control System (IACS) returns.
