ANNEX 1 - GOOD PRACTICE

Practices at HMP Shotts which are commended to other establishments:-

1. Prisoners’ families were involved in the induction process and were encouraged to provide support to the prisoner (paragraph 6.9).

2. As part of their uniform, all staff had been issued with belt-pouch first-aid kits (paragraph 7.31).
