SPS Performance Measures and Key Targets 1997-98

The number of prisoners unlawfully at large. (a) No ‘A’ Category prisoner should escape.

exceed 1.7 per 1,000 prisoners - i.e. no more than 10.

The number of serious assaults on staff and prisoners. (a) The number of serious assaults on staff should not exceed 3 per 1,000 - i.e. no more than 14. 18 Any serious assault on staff is unacceptable.
  (b) The number of serious assaults on prisoners by prisoners should be less than in 1996-97 - i.e.no more than 127. 108 These figures are still of great concern.
Basic quality of life for prisoners By the end of March 1998, 70% of prisoners are to have access to forms of night sanitation. 70%
