HM Inspectorate of Prisons Intermediate Inspection - HM Prison Perth

 

Introduction

An Intermediate Inspection of HMP Perth was carried out on 2, 29 December 1997 and 15 January 1998. The team at various stages comprised:-

Mrs Margaret Reed Nursing Consultant

Mr Brian Henaghen Staff Officer

This was the first inspection of the prison since publication of the report of the last formal Inspection which took place on 2-14 February 1997.

The purpose of Intermediate Inspections is to monitor progress on the Recommendations and Points of Note contained in the last formal Report and to take note of any areas of concern or good practice which may have developed. It is the Inspectorate’s aim to conduct an Intermediate Inspection annually except during those years when a full, Formal Inspection takes place.

This report consists of an updated assessment of the establishment (with the assessment of the medical services contained separately at Annex 1) followed by comments on the Recommendations and Points of Note referenced to the relevant paragraphs of the formal 1997 Report.
