14. RECOMMENDATIONS

14.1 For SPS HQ/Area Director

14.1.1 A detailed survey of local custodial trends should be undertaken, accompanied at the very least by much more robust contingency planning for a burgeoning prisoner population; this should include staffing levels as well as buildings (paragraph 5.7).

14.1.2 A new workshed complex should be provided (paragraph 6.20).

14.1.3 A new combined Operations Room/Visits Area/Staff Facilities complex should be constructed with consideration being given to the provision of some additional health care facilities within that complex (paragraph 13.3).

14.2 For Area Director/Governor I/C

14.2.1 The two part-time drug officer posts should be made full-time as soon as possible (paragraph 5.21).
