on HM Prison Noranside
HM Inspectorate of
Prisons for Scotland 1998
ANNEX 1
GOOD PRACTICE
Practices at HMP Noranside which are commended to
other establishments:-
1. Prisoners were being used to run the
establishments canteen, thereby releasing a considerable number of staff hours which
were being used for other purposes (paragraph 7.7).
2. The organisation underpinning the approach to
Health and Safety issues involved a very comprehensive catalogue of safe systems at work,
risk assessments, reporting systems and training records (paragraph 7.23).
3. The organisation underpinning staff training and
developments was comprehensive and fully integrated into the operation of the prison. This
was reflected in the training statistics which exceeded national targets by almost 100%
(paragraphs 9.9-17). |
