| Report on HM Prison Noranside HM Inspectorate of Prisons for Scotland 1998 14.1 Prisoners at open prisons who test positive for drug misuse should be returned immediately to closed conditions, especially when Class A drugs are involved (paragraph 4.19). 14.2 In open prisons, the focus of work with prisoners who have had addiction problems should be on relapse prevention rather than on intervention (paragraph 4.20). For Area Director/Governor I/C 14.3 There should be a comprehensive review of all local rules which should be followed by the publication of unambiguous statements of the circumstances under which they will be applied (paragraph 3.6). 14.4 There should be a refurbishment and upgrading of the prisoner toilet areas in all the accommodation blocks (except Cameron House) (paragraph 5.12). 14.5 A number of issues, as listed, needs to be addressed both nationally and locally with regard to the delivery of Offending Behaviour Programmes (paragraph 6.17). 14.6 A number of issues, as listed, needs to be addressed with regard to the delivery of education services both at Noranside and at other establishments (paragraph 6.54). 14.7 The floor, ceiling and walls in the kitchen should be upgraded to an acceptable standard (paragraph 7.4). 14.8 There should be an increase in the number of nursing hours (paragraph 8.16). |
