UNFORESEEN DEVELOPMENTS
New man made developments and projects may have an impact on the original landscape design objectives which could require a modification to the landscape and its management - for example road improvements or changes, adjacent development and so on.
Research, experience or unpredicted development could give rise to a need to review the original design objectives - for example:-
-
Particularly rapid establishment and growth of particular species or species combinations.
-
A natural event (a storm perhaps) provides opportunity to develop the landscape in a different direction.
-
Erosion or weathering effects of a particular feature.
-
Disease or pests damaging the scheme.
Also new techniques and materials may require adaptations for example;
-
herbicides and fertilisers;
-
availability of plant species;
-
new machinery; and
-
new approaches
OBJECTIVES CHANGED
The following could have an impact on landscape design objectives;
-
transport or environmental policy changes;
-
changes in fiscal arrangements;
-
new initiatives and trends;
-
evolution of design principles; and
-
greater understanding of the natural world.
