Approximately 550,000 GP Patients in Scotland will receive a letter sent to their homes in October 2008 inviting them to take part in the GP Patient Access Survey.
This survey is being carried out by the Scottish Government with the purpose of measuring the new Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) indicators for patient experience of access.
It is important patients return their completed questionnaires so we can see how easy it is for patients to see or speak to a doctor or nurse for medical advice at their GP surgery.

In 2006 the Scottish Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee (SMASAC) established a Working Group to look at High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds. A copy of their report is now available and it includes a number of recommendations which have been divided into the following three categories - Service Provision, Data Issues and Patient Safety.
