Steel Sector Round Table

The Steel Sector Round Table was set up in December 2016 and is chaired by the Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills.
The purpose of the group was to bring together public and private sectors and trades unions, to review the issues being faced by the Scottish steel sector and to determine where best to concentrate efforts to ensure a healthy future for steel in Scotland.
In pursuit of these aims, the Scottish Steel Round Table established a Short Life Working Group (SLWG). The SLWG commissioned research into the state of the steel sector in Scotland from the WMG Department of the University of Warwick, who published the Scottish Steel Sector Analysis.
This group concluded its work in 2020 once the commissioned research was published.
