National Implementation Group for Terminal Illness

Overview

The purpose of the National Implementation Group is to ensure the smooth implementation of the new terminal illness definition, for the purposes of accessing disability assistance in Scotland, when Scotland’s new forms of disability assistance launch.

The group, comprised of clinicians and wider stakeholders, is providing support for the refinement and application of the Chief Medical Officer’s guidance and the evaluation of its implementation. This will ensure the guidance is applied appropriately. It will also allow us to identify and address any issues which emerge as the policy is established.

This group was formed following the work of the Terminal Illness Stakeholder Reference Group and the Short-Life Working Group on Terminal Illness.
