National Heart Disease Task Force

Overview

The National Heart Disease Task Force is a national group which oversees implementation of the Heart Disease Action Plan.

It is chaired by Dr David Murdoch, Consultant Physician and Cardiologist, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.

The task force convenes twice a year and aims to promote Scotland-wide collaboration, peer support and dissemination of best practice. It includes representation from clinicians, the third sector and professional groups, including public health, planning and pharmacy.

The role of the task force is to:

  • advise health and social care directorates on issues relating to heart disease in Scotland
  • oversee and evaluate the implementation of the Heart Disease Action Plan
  • link with the Heart Disease Lived Experience Network to ensure that lived experience underpins the delivery of the Heart Disease Action Plan
