Rehabilitation: National Advisory Board

Overview

This group is no longer active.

The National Advisory Board for Rehabilitation was established in December 2020 to provide expert advice to Scottish Government, and support leadership in NHS boards, integration authorities, local government, independent and third sector in relation to the delivery of the “Framework for Supporting People through Recovery and Rehabilitation during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic (“the Framework”).

Specifically, it will:

  • provide strategic direction to support delivery of the Framework
  • oversee the delivery of the priorities set out in the Framework
  • co-ordinate and evaluate the implementation of the Framework, progress and outcomes
  • contribute towards wider policy areas that impact on rehabilitation to ensure that it has appropriate links with the wider rehabilitation community and in order to ensure that it provides the best possible advice
  • advise Scottish Government Health and Social Care and other Directorates as appropriate, to Scottish Ministers on issues relating to rehabilitation across Scotland

Framework for supporting people through Recovery and Rehabilitation during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic (August 2020)

In August 2020, we published the ‘Framework for supporting people through Recovery and Rehabilitation during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic’ which puts in place clear principles, priorities and objectives to support planning to meet increasing demand and to provide high quality person-centred rehabilitation in different settings.

The overall vision being that everyone living with rehabilitation needs will be able to access the care, support and services they need to live well, on their own terms.

This paper provides a strategic framework with overarching principles and high-level recommendations, which inform and shape the provision of rehabilitation and recovery services across Scotland.

This Framework is focused on adults 16 years and older. The specific needs of children and young people, and their families are being addressed separately within the Scottish Government.
