Commission Overview

The Cultural Commission comprises James Boyle, its Chair and eight non-executive Commissioners.

The Commissioners (the Board) will monitor and challenge the work of the Commission as it progresses throughout the year, and produce a final report for the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport by the end of June 2005.

The Board is supported by a Secretariat that includes James Boyle. The Secretariat is managed on a day-to-day basis by Karen Watson. The Secretariat supplies the Board with work and recommendations. All those who are members are listed and described. Click on "Secretariat" on the left of this page. The Secretariat presents the Board with the results of the Commission's work, makes recommendations and seeks the Board's advice. The Secretariat is guided and directed by the Board.

As well as offering guidance, it is the role of the Board to scrutinise the process and its outcomes objectively and challenge the work of the Commission.
