1 The following notes are intended to guide respondents in filling in the questionnaire.
2 The questionnaire itself is divided into two parts – A and B. Part A asks for some details about yourself to ensure that the Scottish Executive handles and publishes your response appropriately. Part B is the main core of the questionnaire and seeks your views on the draft fire safety regulations.
3 To make it easier to analyse the resulting data from the questionnaire, we would prefer to receive responses in electronic form.
4 Completed paper versions of the questionnaire should be returned in the pre-paid envelope provided to:

B. Draft Fire Safety Regulations
Part 3 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 makes provision in respect of general duties in relation to premises other than private dwellings and includes a power whereby Scottish Ministers may make regulations in relation to these fire safety duties. The draft regulations which are the subject of this consultation make a number of provisions, including in respect of the carrying out of fire risk assessments and reviews. The regulations will operate along with the provisions of Part 3 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 to form a single fire safety regime in Scotland. Sector specific technical guidance will also be produced which will assist those with responsibilities to comply with the legislation. This should be taken into account when formulating your response. You are invited to consider the regulations and respond to the questions listed below.
