| The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland)
Bill is expected to be enacted in April 2003, subject to the approval
of the Scottish Parliament. This paper was prepared during Parliament’s
consideration of the Bill, but refers to what will happen after it becomes
an Act. For simplicity, the paper refers to ‘the Act’ throughout.
