11 Area deprivation scores are used for many purposes, particularly analysis
for health services, and are commonly derived using the Carstairs Index. The
scores are generally applied to the populations of postcode sectors, and are
derived from selected Census data to quantify levels of relative deprivation
or
affluence in different localities. For more information about the Carstairs
