'A Fairer Tax'

The Scottish Government believes that the council tax is fundamentally unfair and should be abolished and replaced with a fairer local income tax based on ability to pay. As a first step towards making taxation fairer the Government recently cuncluded a consultation exercise, inviting members of the public and a range of interested organisations to contribute their views.

All of the contributions are now being considered, and an analysis of responses, as well as the responses themselves, will be published in the Autumn. More information will be published here as it becomes available.
