commercial enterprise from official organisations promoting
fire prevention or through trade associations.

Comprehensive advice can be found in the Firekills
website which is maintained by the National Community Fire
Safety Centre at the Office of the Deputy Prime
Minister.
Fire
Safety: An Employers Guide
This is the official government guidance issued in
support of the workplace fire precautions legislation. It
provides detailed guidance suitable for most places of work
and is available on-line.
The Fire Protection Association
(FPA)
The FPA is the UK's national fire safety
organisation, promoting the fire safety message to industry
commerce and the general public.
The Association of Specialist Fire
Protection (ASFP)
ASFP represents over fifty of the UKs major
manufacturers and contractors, as well as regulatory and
certification bodies, involved in specialist passive fire
protection.
British
Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE)
BAFE was established in 1984 to raise and maintain
high standards of quality in active fire protection
products and services. Firms registered with BAFE are all
ISO 9000 certified and have adopted one or more of the BAFE
registered schemes.
The British Automatic Sprinkler Association
(BASA)
BASA was founded in 1974 to provide a
representative voice for firms designing, installing,
servicing and maintaining sprinkler systems and allied
water based extinguishing systems together with those
manufacturing the associated specialised equipment.
The British Fire Protection Systems
Association (BFPSA)
BFPSA is the trade association for manufacturers
and installers of fire alarm and fixed extinguishing
systems. It represents some 95% of the UK's purchases of
fire detection and gaseous extinguishing systems.
The Fire Extinguishing Trades Association
(FETA)
FETA is the trade association of manufacturers and
maintainers of portable fire fighting equipment including
extinguishers, hose reels and fittings.
Fire
Industry Confederation (FIC)
FIC was founded to agree and implement policy on
issues extending beyond the scope of the individual member
associations. The confederation represents the fire
protection industry on the Fire Safety Advisory Board.
