Ministerial Group on Aquaculture

The Ministerial Group on Aquaculture

The Ministerial Group on Aquaculture (MGA) was established in 2009. It's remit is to oversee implementation of A Fresh Start - the renewed Strategic Framework for Scottish Aquaculture through the six working groups:

MGA membership is made up of the six working group chairs, as well as aquaculture stakeholders and regulators. The Group, which meets biannually, is chaired by the Minister for the Environment.

As part of its working in developing an Aquaculture and Fisheries (Scotland) Bill, The Minister for Environment and Climate Change has re-convened the Ministerial Group on Aquaculture and, in discussion with that Group, it has been agreed to set up a separate Stakeholder Reference Group to discuss the detail of the Bill provisions leading up to introduction and during the Bill’s progress through Parliament.
