Formal Scoring

The Case Officer will undertake formal scoring against each Regional Priority using the assessment criteria.

This assessment and scoring will be done 'offline' with the final score being captured on the system against each priority, along with the RPAC approval or rejection decision.

You should make yourself aware of the scoring mechanism and assessment criteria to ensure that your Proposal has all the necessary information to allow the assessment process to be carried out.

Each of the Regional Priorities included in your Proposal (and the activities associated with it) will be scored separately. The scoring will be based on three groups of assessment criteria:

  • Group 1 - Scale of Contribution to Regional Priority
  • Group 2 - Value for money
  • Group 3 - Management of Risk. The Case Officer will assign a 'high' or a 'low' rating to each Regional Priority, against each of the criteria in Groups 1, 2 and 3.

The number of "highs" assigned by the Case Officer will dictate whether each Regional Priority Group is ranked as 'Good Fit', 'Partial Fit' or 'Low Fit' for each of the three groups. The combination of rankings is then used to calculate a score for each Regional Priority, using a scoring table.

Scoring will range from a minimum possible score of 2, to a maximum possible score of 18 for each Regional Priority.

When the Case Officer has completed the scoring process, they will enter the score into the system ready for RPAC assessment.

Ongoing approval process for forestry option only applications

If your proposal is limited to specific Regional Priorities and only contains Forestry Options then we may be able to approve your application without referring it to the RPAC. Your application will still be assessed and scored in the normal way and must achieve the threshold score set by the NPAC.
