Introduction
The Land Management Contract Menu Scheme (LMCMS) is now closed to new applicants . It has been replaced by the Rural Development Contracts - Land Managers Options (LMO).
If you applied to the LMCMS in 2005 or 2006 then the guidance below is still applicable for your continuing commitments.
Following the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the opportunity arose to advance the concept of LMCs using modulation funding.
The Land Management Contract Menu Scheme was introduced for the first time in 2005 under EC Regulation 1257/1999 ( www.europa.eu.int) as amended by Regulation 1783/2003 ( www.europa.eu.int), alongside the new Single Farm Payment Scheme.

The menu has been designed to provide a range of measures suited to the diversity of agricultural activity and land types throughout Scotland. Farmers and crofters can choose which activities they wish to carry out from the menu, depending on what suits their individual circumstances, their plans for future business development and the eligibility requirements of individual measures.
There are many options to choose from. Some are one-offs, such as training and farm visits, others have a 5-year commitment such as the agri-environment measures and the animal health and welfare programme.
