What is Cross Compliance?
Cross Compliance is a set of requirements that must be met in order to claim direct support payments. There are two elements to Cross Compliance:
1. Statutory Management Requirements (SMRs) - These are legal standards for areas such as public health.
2. Good Agricultural and Environmental Conditions (GAEC) - These are conditions imposed by the Cross Compliance scheme
What do we look for?
We will look to check that both the Statutory Management Requirements and Good Agricultural and Environmental Conditions (GAEC) are being met. This means we will:
· Visually check the land
· Physically check animals
· examine records where appropriate
In certain situations, other bodies, such as Animal Health, may also carry out inspections.
Where can you find out more?
