The Sheep Scab (Scotland) Order 2010
The Sheep Scab (Scotland) Order 2010 came into force on the 17 December 2010.
Guidance on this Order has recently been revised to take account of the Sheep Scab (Scotland) Amendment Order 2011 which comes into force on the 14th March 2011. This is available for both Local Authorities and Private Veterinary Surgeons.

How to recognise sheep scab in your flock
- Look for rubbing and wool loss.
- Part the fleece in several areas, suspect scab if you find scales and scabs
- Sometimes mites can be seen as moving white specks just visible to the naked eye around the edges of a scabby or red area
- Consult your veterinary surgeon if you are at all unsure as symptoms may be confused with lice and scrapie
