Codes of Recommendation / Practice

In order to secure a high level of welfare in livestock and other animals, various codes of recommendation and practice have been issued on the Authority of the Scottish Parliament pursuant to section 37 of the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.  In April, 2012 the Cattle, Laying Hens, Pigs and Sheep Codes of Recommendations were revised to take account of legislative changes.  They are now called Codes of Practice.   

 

Animal Welfare Guidance

Animal Welfare Guidance is produced by Scottish Ministers pursant to section 38 of the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 for the purpose of securing the welfare of protected animals.
