Health Advice
If you are in an 'at risk' group - get your flu jab. The at risk group consists of those over 65 and those of any age who suffer from chronic disease. We also offer it to those who are primary carers.
Get the pneumococcal vaccine too if you are over 65 and have not had it before. It's a one-off jab so you won't need to get it again.
If you do get seasonal flu - stay at home, drink plenty of fluids, and be careful with hand hygiene so you don't pass it on.
Try and stay active and get outside in daylight if you can. This will help to ward off the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) - the low mood and depression that some people experience at this time of year.
In bad weather, take sensible precautions to avoid falls and fractures - appropriate footwear, helping the elderly clear paths and fix loose carpets or floor boards.
Party clothes and too much alcohol are a dangerous combination. Dress for the weather.
