Air Discount Scheme

The Air Discount Scheme (ADS) was launched on 18 May 2006 and is aimed at tackling the problem of high air fares for the remotest communities in the Highlands and Islands by providing a discount of 40% on the core air fare on eligible routes.
The Scheme is a mechanism designed to fulfil the Scottish Government's aim of delivering lower air fares for residents of Scotland's most peripheral communities travelling to and from Scotland's key population centres and/or between airports within the eligible areas.
The ADS is operated and administered by the Scottish Government, with the Scheme administration based in Inverness.
The Scheme is available to all people whose main residence is in one of the following defined eligible areas:
· .Western Isles, Orkney, Shetland, Islay and Jura, Caithness and North-West Sutherland
The Scheme also includes students from these areas who are studying away from home.
Further information on the Scheme can be obtained on-line at the Air Discount Scheme website and also at Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd . (HIAL).
